Fire Protection Systems: The Complete BuildMEP Guide

Fire protection isn’t one system — it’s several independent layers working together: passive containment, water-based suppression, and portable first response. Each layer has its own design logic, its own code, and its own way of failing if the coordination between layers breaks down. A correctly rated fire damper doesn’t help if the sprinkler pump can’t deliver pressure at overload flow. A perfectly sized fire pump doesn’t help if the extinguisher in the server room finishes off the equipment the fire didn’t reach.
